My story
Hi my name is Riley and I am 8 years old and I am autistic. I don’t look at my autism as a disability I look at my autism as my special ability.
I have an exceptionally good memory, I am good at remembering certain dates and fun facts, I can remember lots of different things. I am absolutely obsessed with aeroplanes and Roblox but also have a huge passion for horse riding and swimming. I love being creative with art, painting and making my own songs and stories. However, there is the other side of my autism, where there are certain things that I find difficult to do or cope with every single day, that other boys and girls my age may find really easy to deal with. I sometimes find it difficult when other children my age, older children and even adults aren’t fully aware and accepting of Autism.
The National Autistic Society is there to transform lives, change attitudes and create a society that works for all autistic people. There is still so much to do to increase opportunities, reduce social isolation and build a brighter future for autistic people like myself and with your help I really do think we can make a change.
Therefore I have decided to take part in my own, yes my own, 20K walk for the World Autism Acceptance Month which is in April this year, in hope to raise a target of £400, of course I would love to smash this goal as this is my very first own fundraiser but I really would like this money to go on and help other girls and boys like myself and to also raise more awareness. Of course, I will not be doing this alone, my Mummy who is my biggest supporter will be doing this by my side.
Anything you can donate is greatly appreciated and will be going towards creating a better society for autistic children and their families.
