My story

Update 1/4/2025
Day 1 of Autism Awareness month and I have completed my first 5 k walk. I did get that fitness watch and have posted on my WhatsApp status a photo of my walk for those interested in seeing progress and proof I shall upload daily on there.

Update 21/01/2025
Feeling determined, seeing as I've already had so much support, I have decided to make it a bit more challenging and I am going to walk 5k every day for the month of April, I shall be investing in a fitness watch to track my progress and I will post regular updates as I walk my way through April's Autism Awareness month! Wish me luck and thank you all for your support 💚🫶🏻

Raising money and awareness for a cause close to my heart. As a mother of a non verbal child with autism, I too am still learning what autism is and finding new ways to help navigate life in a world where he sees, feels and thinks differently to you and I. The more I watch my son grow and the more I learn more about Autism I realise that things that we take for granted are just not as simple or easy for others.
Since fighting for Eden to get the help and support he not only needs but deserves. Many a time on this journey I have turnt to food as a comfort, I have stayed in more than going out, become less active, more anxious.
Being a sen parent can be a lonely and isolating place, with a child that gets overwhelmed and lashes out when in a crowded or busy place, or the lights being too bright and so on, the looks and comments from passers-by and the feeling of being a failure as a parent when you cant stop your child headbutting holes in your walls, or hurting you when you do try and stop them, but there is help out there and there are people who "get it" because amazingly you are not alone, I am not alone, so many people also deal with this and its up to us as sen parents to raise awareness and reach out to other sen families for support and too support them also.
I am incredibly unfit and overweight and have decided this year I need to get healthier not just for me, but for my son, who might need me around for just a little bit longer, I now have a few hours a week where Eden is at his specialist school and he is absolutely thriving and I now have a little time for me again and so what better way to start this journey than to try and raise some money and awareness for autism, whilst getting myself fit and healthier for my family.
I am fundraising for the National Autistic Society by organising my own 5k walk during World Autism Acceptance Month, April 2025.
