My story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
2.5 years ago when my son wasn't talking and suddenly stopped eye-contact and things he would do and engage with us, we thought it is only a phase when he may be growing in other areas of development.
I still remember the day while we waited for the paediatric appointment, a child walked near to play with mine, he didn't acknowledge and later walked away. I saw something that I had not wanted to see or ignored all the while praying everything will sort itself. When the paediatrician mentioned Autism we felt as if the sky had fallen. There was silence for a few weeks at home but as time passes and with the support of friends, colleagues at work, reading, talking professionals who had experience with caring and helping individuals with autism our perception has changed. Fast forward to today, Children's autism is a topic that is near and dear to my heart. Our amazing son has taught us so many things and is the kindest soul ever. Our newfound happiness is now celebrating everything he does and he is and working together as a team to help make the world easier to navigate for him.
Although 5K walk may seem like cakewalk for many, this is going to be a huge challenge for me physically as exercise has taken backseat in my life for years. I will be participating in the walk to help raise awareness, fund more research so that we can offer better care and support to children and their families, inclusivity and opportunities for the individuals at schools, play areas, activities work, etc
Anything you can donate is greatly appreciated and will be going towards creating a better society for autistic people and their families.
