My story
Hi everyone, my name is Alisha and I am raising money for the National Autistic Society by organising my own 5k walk during World Autism Acceptance Month, April 2025.
I am doing this to support everyone on the spectrum but most of all, for my son AJ. 💚🧩
My son who is 3, is non-verbal autistic. He was diagnosed May 2024.
Shortly after his diagnosis, a member of the National Autistic Society reached out to me and I was deeply overwhelmed by the substantial assistance I received. 🥹
He helped me with coping strategies, sensory processing advice, understanding stimming and supporting letters too. Everything I needed and wanted answers for, this person gave to me and I am deeply indebted by his support. ❤️
This charity helps me and others in so many ways we cannot express enough gratitude for.
To give back, I am walking 5k+ this April to support with raising Autism Awareness. 💚🧩
ASD has become more widespread and everyone either knows someone or has someone with special educational needs in their family.
Increased awareness of autism is leading to greater societal understanding and acceptance of autistic individuals. ☺️❤️
The social impact of raising awareness is that people become more familiar with autism, leading to decreased negative stereotypes and prejudices against autistic individuals. This will improve their social acceptance and gain opportunities to enhanced services such as therapy, community programs, education or employment. 👩💼🧑🏭
Most importantly, awareness will make them feel seen and understood.
We want them to feel confident and accepted in society as much as we do. 💚
Not just autism but other individuals with special educational needs. I am doing this for you.
Anything given will be greatly appreciated and will be going towards creating a better society for autistic people and their families.
